Many NYEBN members have asked me how our group was able to expand so fast in such a short amount of time. To thoroughly answer this question, we feel the need to do a special seminar. Please join me to welcome the Meetup founder, Scott Heiferman, as our special guest at this event. Here is the event schedule:

6:15 - 6:30 PM - Registration
6:30 - 7:30 PM - Interview with Scott Heiferman

Details: I will be interviewing Scott Herferman in front of our audience. Scott will be answering questions regarding Meetup and other questions addressed by the audience. We only accept questions from those of you on the "Yes" RSVPs. So once you've RSVPed for the event, you can send your questions to Sue Risdal at Susan at WebStudio13 dot com.

    •  Excellent information from Scott, and Andrew's presentation on building a community was very informative and well presented. I was impressed by the people who attended, and the sense of community in the room. Thanks!
    •  Andrew's presentation was excellent! I learned a lot and plan to implement a number of the recommendations today!!! Let's go build our communities one business connection at a time. Minister Dr. Rose

It was quite interesting to find out how Meetup got started and why it is successful. The take away is to make sure to have people with different skill sets when you are partnering up to start a business and to provide service which are customer driven.
    •  This was my first time at NYEBN. It was great meeting an interesting group of business professional from many diverse fields. What surprised me at a meeting of entrepreneurs was Meetup's founder Scott Heiferman's dedication to providing a quality experience to users with little regard for his own monetary interest. I suppose that's what has accounted for Meetup's phenomenal growth. Andrew Ran Wong's presentation on "Integrating Social Media to Build a Vibrant Community" provided a lot of useful resources and ideas for utilizing social media to optimize web site Google rankings. It was great meeting everyone. Thanks Scott and Andrew for your insight.

I sat at the back of the room and listened to Scott tell the story of Meetup. Every word that came out of him was spoken with conviction and his confidence resonated throughout the room. Meetup is a great way to meet new people and fortunately I am involved with NYEBN, the fastest and strongest Meetup group in NYC. Andrew gave a great presentation with his slide shows which explained social media like Twitter, Blogging, Facebook, LinkedIn, Picture Sharing, Video Sharing, Social Book Marking. All these social media vehicles help you get linked to the world and Andrew freely shared his priceless knowledge. He also talked about the importance of Google especially for the businessperson.
    •  Scott was riveting. He gave a lot of information about how he built meetup, his philosophy behind its goals and his plans for the future. It was exciting to realize each of us area part of that dream. His ideals can be applied to any group of people. Andrew then gave a Web 2.0 lecture on the various media he uses to build our powerful networking group. The slide show that ran along side his explanations were really impressive. Andrew was clear and concise and told everyone there how they could do the same.
    •  It was great to see Scott and Andrew talking about my passion and that is creating relationships. And thanks to Andrew for showing all of us how to grow our groups using the free tools that are available to us.
    •  Well worth my time and $15. Both parts were interesting and I learned some new things. Also met some interesting new people who were in attendance.
    •  I joined Andrew's group to get some cutting edge ideas and valuable information. I have never been disappointed. Whether I log on to the web site, read articles in WebStudio13, speak with Susan on the phone or travel a hundred miles from Pennsylvania to meetup face-to-face with so many interesting and charming entrepreneurs and businesspeople--Scott Heiferman, too! Thanks to everyone who worked so hard to put this together. It was a very rewarding experience for me. I am re-energized and excited to rebuild my business and social networks. I'll be back as often as possible to bask in the glow... Yours, SuperChris | Lehigh Valley Wine & Dine | Lehigh Valley Writer's Symposium | PhotoQuest101
    •  The first portion was an excellent discussion/interview on the human scale of communities and some of the factors that went into building Meetup; while there were points and questions that were more entrepreneurial-oriented, I was pleasantly surprised at how wide-ranging the discussion went. The second portion was a presentation on various social media and social technologies on the Internet (Facebook, LinkedIn, etc), solidly aimed at non-techie entrepreneurs, very well presented and informative.
